THE SHIP HAS COME IN

Three Ships Coffee Roasters is an Old Beach Farmers Market success story.

Two years ago Rodney Einhorn, chef/owner of Terrapin Restaurant, invited Brad and Amy Ewing to sell their cold brew coffee from his space at OBFM. The low-acidity coffee they cold-brewed in their Shadowlawn home was an immediate hit that enabled the couple to jump into coffee roasting to support the growing local demand for specialty coffee.

Last fall Three Ships was voted Best Brewed Coffee in Hampton Roads by a Virginian Pilot panel that came to the market for a sample.

In 2015 Three Ships expanded to a full scale roasting facility and coffee shop at 1703 Mediterranean Ave., just a couple of blocks southeast of OBFM.

Brad and Amy promise to bring the very best fresh roasted coffee from around the world to our market year round. Look for their vintage travel trailer this Saturday and get caffeinated with a mellow brew.

TROUBADOUR RETURNS

Tallavert Tunage returns to OBFM this Saturday with his acoustic guitar and a seemingly limitless inventory of great tunes. The singer/songwriter enjoys playing classic rock, pop, soul, and rhythm and blues. He’ll be set up at the 19th Street entrance to the market.

RECIPE

VANILLA SUGAR

Make my delicious vanilla sugar to sweeten your Three Ships Coffee or to use in baking.

In an sealable container, add 2 cups granulated white sugar. Slice a vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds inside into the sugar; stir to mix. Bury the bean pod into the container, seal, and let sit 7-10 days. Remove the bean pod before use. Makes 2 cups.
